Relational Gestalt Practice Weekend

As we enter into our post-pandemic existence we can return to making contact in person and use the practices that increase our experience of presence and awareness. The relational experiences in group work are an essential part of two psychological processes associated with health, the intrapersonal and interpersonal. Intrapersonal health is defined as internal clarity-good contact with the emotional, physical and intellectual aspects of ourselves, or the awareness of the lack of clarity in any of these aspects. Interpersonal health is defined as appropriate contact with aspects of the environment and this will vary from person to person, given differences in values, relational history, culture and background.

Our sense of who we are develops in connection with others, and within certain conditions. Group work can meet our needs for attunement and understanding; support us in identifying and expressing our emotions and acknowledging and respecting areas of similarities and differences. When we commit to practicing self response-ability, kindness, acceptance and honesty we can learn to fully experience and express ourselves in healthy ways, which is integral to being alive.

In this workshop, we'll seek to:

  • Improve our ability to make contact

  • Develop and track awareness of our emotions and sensations

  • Learn to express and practice communicating needs and wants effectively

  • Discover habitual relational patterns that prevent us from cultivating the type of contact we want.

The workshop will include time for basic gestalt awareness practices, a mixture of didactic and experiential exercises, as well as individual "open seat" sessions with Dorothy and with the support of the group.

This workshop is open to those who have attended a previous Relational Gestalt Practice workshop with Dorothy, or done GAP with Christine Price and/or Sharon Terry.
